New editor, new opinions

Same experience with a twist

Last year shocked Taylor University.

Joe-on-the-Go, a local coffee shop, closed halfway through second semester. Vice President Mike Pence spoke at commencement, which caused controversy across campus. There was also the incident of the beheaded cow, a prop from the school’s production of “Into the Woods.”

These are just a few of the events that happened during the year.

My name is Lindsey, I am a sophomore and the new editor for the Opinions section of the Echo. I cannot wait to see what great discussions this page is going to have this year.

This page is about sharing your thoughts about current events, new trends or whatever you feel strongly about. People shared their opinions about those three occurrences last year, and just like for those events, we want to hear from you.

However, we need to remain civil toward each other. This is a safe atmosphere for you to be honest about your views on different subjects.

Also, your views do not have to line up with the Echo’s in order to be published. If you submit something and it is not published, it is purely because we did not have the space to add it in the paper that week.

If you would like to submit an article for the Opinions page, it must be at least 600 words and include three sources. If you would like to write a letter-to-the-editor, it cannot exceed 200 words, it does not need sources and can be emailed to lindsey_metzger@taylor.edu.

I cannot wait to read your opinions over this school year. I am so grateful for this position, and in my opinion, this is going to be a good year.
