Third East Olson Cookie Open House
Entering Olson on Thursday was followed by the smell of sweets and sounds of chill music. People flooded the hall and rooms in search of their favorite cookies, which were laid out on chairs and tables throughout the wing. Blue streamers elegantly fell from the ceiling to let visitors know this was a "cool" place to stop by and chat with your friends and enjoy a sugary snack. Signing a guest book that put me on a list to receive an email after the event thanking me for my participation was the icing on the (cookie) cake.

First East Wengatz Laundry Open House
Hardcore parkour. Dances from New Zealand. Spiritual interpretations of "I'm a Little Teapot." That's right, last Thursday was First East Wengatz's annual Laundry Open House! A stage was set up outside, and onlookers huddled together against the wind as they were warmed by laughter of the boys' performances. An applause meter was used to gauge the best improv production of these silly skits.

Swalloween
Getting swept into Swallow Robin was like entering a portal to Halloweentown. Food was provided in abundance as spooky music played and lights flashed. Each floor held a unique themes involving riddles, the fear of commitment, and the legend of Sleepy Hollow. Dead leaves and realistic cobwebs lined the floors and walls, and screams of laughter were heard out into the night.

Second Center Wengatz Coffee Open House
Walking into Second Center Wengatz on Wednesday was like walking into The Abbey Coffee Co. Couches were lined up against the walls, and the smell of coffee clouded bystanders' noses. Hipsters filled the wing, playing cards, singing music, and chilling on couches. What a great way to give students a break from those frustrating classes.

Broho/Foundation Open House
Two floors of Samuel Morris joined forces this Halloween. Foundation's open house was Scooby Doo themed, with decorations every fan of the Scooby gang would recognize. When you entered Broho, you dropped into an apocalypse, shooting zombies left and right in the dark. Although complaints were made about the open houses' being too dark and overcrowded at times, they were well run, overall. The Cubs game was also playing on a small computer, which was a win for Chicago fans.

Second English Open House
Traveling through the time machine on the stairs, I came through the door and walked into a hallway of people. There was a lot of food to eat (including the healthy option of apples), and a variety of drinks as well. Many students walked around to each suite to take pictures, guess how much candy corn sat in a jar, and especially watch the World Series game.
