The Taylor men's golf team finished up play in the Earl Yestingmeyer Memorial Tournament at Delaware Country Club in Muncie on Tuesday. The Trojans finished with a team score of 1,164 over the three-round tournament, good enough for a seventh-place tie with Marian University.
Senior Elliot Day recorded the top tournament score for the Trojans, firing a career low 71 during the second round on day one. Day finished with a day one score of 150 after shooting a 79 in his opening round, placing the senior in a tie for 20th.
Junior Nate Scheibe also finished with rounds in the 70s during the opening day as he finished with scores of 76 and 77, while fellow junior Tucker Fahlen fired a second round score of 76 after shooting an 81 in his first round.
In day two of tournament, Freshman Nathan Edwards finished with the low score for Taylor, firing a 74. Scheibe followed closely behind, carding a 75, while freshman Seth Neal finished with a 76 after birdying his final two holes.
Scheibe finished the tournament with a team low 218 (+18), good enough for a 29th place finish in the 80-man field, while Day finished just one stroke behind him for a 30th place finish.
Taylor will return to action on Monday when the Trojans travel to Harbour Trees Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. for the Crossroads League Championship. The two-day tournament will wrap up with final round play on Tuesday.
