The TU women's basketball team (11-17, 6-10) comfortably took down conference foe Goshen last Saturday afternoon 82-63. The Trojans had four players score in double figures for the game led by senior Kelci Freds' 18 points.
Taylor jumped out to an early lead but had to fend off the Maple Leafs for control during most of the first stanza. A 43-33 halftime edge had Taylor feeling in charge until Goshen clawed back to bring the score within six at 50-44 with just under 12 minutes to play.
Taylor went on to answer with seven straight points as they cruised to the 19-point win. 12 of Freds' 18 points came from beyond the arc as she went 4-of-8 from distance and 5-of-10 from the field. She also dished out four assists while recording only one turnover for the contest.
Junior Becca Daniels and sophomore Monica Compton tallied 14 points apiece while senior Kelsey Bryant added a great all-around performance with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.
The Trojans have now alternated wins and losses on consecutive games for the past six contests.
The women's squad will be in action on the road Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Bethel College before hosting No. 20 Huntington Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. for Senior Night.
