Meet the candidates

Two teams of 4 freshmen are vying to become the Inter-Class Council (ICC) representatives for the class of 2017. Read on as each platform presents themselves in their own words.

Team Moore: Uncle Sam wants you to vote . . . on Blackboard

Hello! This is Kat Smith, and I'm running for VP. I live in Olson with Hannah Rathbun (Secretary). JJ Nance (Treasurer) lives in Sammy, and our big old president Sam Moore lives in Wengatz. We're all extremely excited for this year, and have tons of ideas for what to do.Our slogan with the photo is," Uncle Sam Wants You to Vote On Blackboard." Our platform mainly focuses on the community aspect on campus and, and in the world at large. We really want to focus on having the best four years possible at Taylor, and are planning to do way more freshman-focused events.

The plan is for three main events: one worship event, one service event and, of course, one fun event! This way, we can really get in with each other, learn more about one another and really settle into our community here at Taylor. And remember, a vote for Team Moore is a vote for more community, more service opportunities, more worship and more fun.

Connect Four: We are all about connection

Perdue's group, Abi Perdue, Mark Dykstra, Solomon Kinyua and Logan Bicknell, desires to connect four communities across Taylor. (Photograph provided by Perdue's group)

Hey, ya'll! It's Abi, Mark, Logan and Solomon! We're running for freshman class council, and we would be so pumped if you would elect us. We're calling ourselves Connect Four, mostly because we are all about connection. Connecting to the local city of Upland, to each other as freshmen, to the world that God has created for us and to the greater Taylor community. This means that we want to have more service opportunities, more ways to connect to one another inside the Taylor community, as well as more ways to connect to the Upland community. This year has so much potential, and we want to HAVE FUN. Freshman Council is the kind of platform we would need to get your ideas out there, and plan not only fun events, but also events that will bring us together as a community and help us to grow as a body in Christ! Not only is our goal to make things happen, but we also want to focus on growing and deepening our relationships with one another through freshman-exclusive events!
