The softball team was swept at home on Saturday as the visiting Bethel College Pilots took both games of the doubleheader 5-3 and 12-4.
In game one Taylor jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, due in part to two Bethel errors.
In the fifth inning the Pilots put together a small rally. The two home runs in the inning by Bethel provided four runs as they took a 5-2 lead.
Taylor managed to get another run in the bottom of the seventh when Senior Sarah Heath hit a double to left field to score junior Emily Tweedy.
The rally was cut short though, as Taylor fell 5-3 in the first game.
Game two wasn't as close.
The offense of the Pilots exploded, as they scored 12 runs in game two. Six of the runs were scored in the seventh inning.
Taylor had one big inning of offense but were unable to muster up any more power, falling to Bethel 12-4.
Taylor only managed to put the ball successfully in play seven times on the day.
Taylor will look to bounce back against Spring Arbor at home on Tuesday. The doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m.
