The Trojans were hit with a dose of reality Friday afternoon, failing to NCAA Division I Bass State University 11-0 at Winterholter Field.
At the plate, the Torjans struggled to put the bat on the ball producing only two hits in the game, which came off the bats of sophomore Daimon Buck and Grant Hendershot.
The Cardinals took the lead early in the game, putting up two runs in the first from Ball State's senior Billy Wellman and junior T.J. Weir.
After the first innings, the Cardinals offense sparked a total of 14 hits in the 9-inning game, while driving in 11 runs. Leading the team was freshman catcher Sam Tidaback going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's and two runs scored.
Taylor never answered back, going scoreless in nine innings of play.
Senior Derek Kinzer took the mound for the Trojans, receiving the loss for the team. Kinzer pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, striking out two and giving up seven runs off of nine hits.
On Saturday, the Trojans look to turn things around, as they will host yet another NCAA Division I team taking on IPFW at 12 pm. This will be the Trojans finial matchup before Crossroads League action begins on Tuesday.
