It was another difficult day for the Trojans (5-9), dropping their second game of the weekend to NCAA Division I IPFW 7-5.
IPFW (6-8) got off to an early lead in the game and took it into the bottom of the eighth inning before the Trojans strapped on their rally caps and put up four runs to narrow the gap.
Sophomore Brent Minta led the offensive come back for the Trojans with an RBI single that drove in Brian Moore.
After, Taylor capitalized on two errors by IPFW to put them within two runs heading into the top of the ninth.
On the mound for the Trojans was senior Taylor Luna who went 4 and 2/3 innings allowing three runs off of six hits before being charged with the loss.
The Trojans bullpen, which has been the team's strong point throughout the season, continued to fuel the fire. Junior Jordan Coffey threw 2 and 1/3 innings giving up four runs off of six hits.
However, it was an impressive start for former Taylor Trojan Chuck Weaver who started on the mound for the Mastadons. Weaver gave his team a solid performance going five innings, giving up only one run off of four hits and striking out nine to pick up the win.
With Crossroads League play right around the corner, the Trojans will have to shake off the pre-season jitters if they want to be a post-season contender.
The Goshen Maple Leafs will travel to Upland on Tuesday for a doubleheader against the Trojans for the first game of conference league play at Winterholter Field with first pitch is scheduled for 2 pm.
