The women's basketball team tallied another road win in conference play on Saturday as they defeated the Marian Knights 85-70.
The Trojans gained a first half lead and weathered two storming comebacks by Marian thanks to doubles doubles from seniors Erin Guarneri and Erika Redweik. Guarneri led the Trojans with 22 points and ten rebounds while Redweik notched 13 points and ten boards.
Taylor trailed early on but a 26-10 run gave the Trojans a double digit advantage in the middle of the first half that would fade slightly due to a Marian run. The Trojans went into halftime with a 40-33 advantage.
Guarneri opened the second half with back-to-back threes that gave the Trojans another comfortable lead. The second of the Knights' comeback runs was sparked in the middle of the second half trimming the Taylor lead to 61-55 with just under ten minutes to play.
The Trojans responded with an 8-0 run that would eventually put the game in the books at 85-70.
Taylor shot extremely well in the second half including 4-for-5 from beyond the arc, They shot 51.8 percent from the floor for the contest.
Tess Rudolph and Kelsey Bryant added a dozen apiece while Shayna Wood contributed ten points and three blocks.
The Trojans are 18-8 (7-7) and will travel to Spring Arbor on Wednesday to face the Cougars at 7:00 pm.
