Trojans battered at Bryan College

By Austin Kight

The Trojans dropped three of four games at Bryan College (Tenn.) this weekend, splitting games Friday night than dropping both games on Saturday. Bryan's bats were hot in the first game of the four-game series claiming an 18-6 victory over the Trojans. Senior Ryan Baker (0-2) was on the mound for Taylor in the first game, allowing six runs in 3 1/3 innings. Baker did not get much run support from the Trojans offense with only two run through four innings.

Game two was the Trojans only victory this weekend.

Sophomore Josh DeGraaf took the mound for Taylor in his first outing of the season. DeGraaf struck out seven and only allowed one run off of five hits in five innings, boosting the Trojans to a 6-2 victory in the nightcap.

On Saturday, things took a bad turn for the Trojans, dropping both games to Bryan College.

Once again, Taylor struggled at the plate with only four hits off of Bryan's Tristan Speak who threw a complete game picking up the win (9-1) over the Trojans. The last game of the series against Bryan came as a heart breaker for the Trojans dropping the final game 7-3. Senior Derek Kinzer took the mound in the last game, only allowing three runs off of six hits in 3 1/3 innings. Taylor's offence got going in the third and fourth innings, scoring three runs to put them within one run of the Lions going into fifth.

Bryan responded in the sixth with three runs to claim a 7-3 victory.

The Trojans will have the week off before another four-game series against No. 25 Judson on Friday and Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on Friday.
