Taylor takes Grace in final match-up

By Gabe Bain

The women's basketball team earned a convincing victory over the Grace College Lancers on Senior Day.

Taylor's win has them set as the 4th seed in the Crossroads League Tournament, which means they will play at home for their first game of the tournament.

The Trojans were led by their three seniors who honored before the game. Seniors Erika Redweik and Erin Guarneri led the team with 17 and 16 points respectively. Senior Tess Rudolph added seven points.

Grace pushed ahead of the Trojans early, leading by as much as nine points in the first half. Taylor quickly responded with a 15-4 run to put them ahead 23-21.

The Trojans closed out the half on top 38-27.

Taylor looked to continue the success they found in the latter part of the first half as they grabbed a 14 point lead with less than 14 minutes left in the game.

Grace responded with a 13-0 run to cut the lead to one, 50-49. The push by Grace did not shake the Trojans as they went ahead by double digits and maintained their lead for the rest of the game winning 78-66.

The win brings Taylor to 21-9 on the season and 10-7 in the conference.

Taylor plays its first tournament game at 7 p.m. this Tuesday at Odle Arena.
