The No. 25 Taylor men's basketball team fell to No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan 52-49 in an electric Odle Arena Tuesday night. The night also served as senior night for the five Trojan seniors.
The two teams kept pace with one another during the first half, as neither team was able to lead by as much at six. Taylor managed to pull ahead at the end and take a 26-22 lead into halftime.
Indiana Wesleyan came out blazing in the second half, pulling ahead 32-30 thanks to a 10-4 run to start the half. Much like the first half, the two teams remained dead even until the end.
Down three with 17 seconds remaining, senior Casey Coons had an opportunity to tie the game up, but his three-pointer just missed after bouncing on the rim three times.
With the loss the Trojans fall to 19-10 overall and 11-6 in conference play. They remain in a three-way tie in the Crossroads League with one game remaining.
Taylor will be back in action this Saturday when the Trojans travel to Winona Lake to take on Grace. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
