The Taylor women's basketball team won its third straight on Wednesday night with a 74-65 victory of Mount Vernon Nazarene.
A 17-6 run late in the first half gave the Trojans a slight edge that led to a 35-22 lead at the break. They held Mount Vernon Nazarene to just 8-of-32 (25 percent) shooting in the first half.
That 13 point lead would never relinquish as Taylor controlled the tempo and stayed between seven and 16 points ahead the remainder of the contest.
The Trojans had four scorers in double figures led by Erin Guarneri's double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Shayna Wood and Tess Rudolph each contributed 13 points while Erika Redweik added 10.
The most impressive stat line may have gone to junior Kelsey Bryant, who only scored four points but tallied an impressive seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
The Trojans have a rough road ahead as five of their next six opponents are ranked in top 25 and four of those matchups will take place on the road. Taylor will look to notch its fourth straight win as they travel to No. 15 Bethel this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
