The Women's basketball team lost a close game against the No. 4 ranked Saint Francis Cougars, 78-73.
Taylor kept the score close for most of the game only going down by double digits a few times. They trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half.
Seniors Tess Rudolph and Erin Guarneri led the team with 23 and 22 points respectively. Together the duo combined for all eight of the team's three-pointers. Guarneri also led the team with eight rebounds.
Saint Francis came out of the locker room ready to battle, but Taylor remained close throughout the first half.
The cougars left the half with a 5-point lead, 32-27, over Taylor.
Saint Francis continued to put pressure on the Taylor guards forcing many turnovers. The Trojans finished with 20 turnovers in the game.
Taylor found themselves behind by double digits in the second half. But they fought back and brought the lead within striking distance by making some key steals and hitting timely three-pointers.
The scrappy play of the Cougars proved to be too much for the Trojans to handle as the buzzer sounded with Saint Francis on top by five.
Saint Francis finished the game with a field goal percentage of 50.9 percent on 29-57 shooting. Taylor would finish with 42.6 percent on 26-61 shooting.
Taylor looks to bounce back when they take on Marian on the road at 1 p.m. this Saturday.
