The Taylor men's basketball team got an 87-71 victory over Goshen on Saturday. The Trojans controlled most of the game while shooting lights out in the win.
Senior guard Tommy Peller scored a career-high 28 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the floor and 3-for-3 on 3-pointers. Junior guard Ben Raichel also scored a career-high 25 points while filling it up from long range. Raichel went 7-for-12 on 3-pointers.
The Trojans jumped out to a 13-4 lead that held steady until they took a 39-31 lead into the half. The Trojans had four scorers in double figures at the break. Senior Nate Kasper tallied 12 points and eight rebounds while senior Casey Coons added 12 to go along with 11 from both Peller and Raichel.
The Trojans went on a 12-3 run early in the second half to make the lead more comfortable. The Maple Leafs climbed back to within nine but would get no closer the rest of the game as the Trojans led by as many as 18.
Peller and Raichel finished with 28 and 25, respectively, while Kasper added a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Coons also added 14 points and eight assists.
The Trojans shot 58.2 percent from the floor and an outrageous 54.5 percent (12-22) from long range. Taylor is now fourth in NAIA in three-point shooting.
Having won three straight, the Trojans will host Mount Vernon Nazarene on Tuesday in Odle Arena at 7:00 pm.
