The Taylor men's basketball team extended their conference win streak to two Tuesday night, taking down conference foe Spring Arbor 68-58. The win moved the Trojans to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Senior Casey Coons and junior Ben Raichel led an impressive shooting night from beyond the arc for the Trojans. The duo combined for all nine of Taylor's three-point makes, with Coons knocking down 6 of them.
Taylor started the game off slow as they watched the Cougars jump out to an early 18-9 lead. The Trojans managed to put together a run at the end of the half, but found themselves down 32-31 going into the locker room, as Spring Arbor connected on a shot at the buzzer.
Coming out at the half the Trojans fell behind by seven early , but found their rhythm quickly, going on a 14-4 run and taking a 47-44 lead. Spring Arbor regained the lead in the ensuing minutes, but an 18-10 run by Taylor put the Cougars down for good.
Three players ended in double figures for Taylor. Coons led the Trojan attack with 23 points on 7-of-16 shooing. Senior Tommy Peller added 15 and Raichel chipped in 11. Senior Nate Kasper had a team high 11 rebounds, and two blocks, while sophomore Darayl Jordan pulled down 7 boards of his own.
Taylor will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on Goshen in Crossroads League play. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
