The Taylor men's basketball team got its sixth straight win on Tuesday night as the Trojans went in Saint Francis and stole a win against the Cougars 68-56.
The Trojans controlled much of the second half as the Cougars got within four at one point but trailed by nearly double digits the rest of the way.
A strong performance by senior Tommy Peller filled the stat sheet as he scored 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists. Senior Nate Kasper led the Trojans with 19 points.
The Trojans led 34-30 at halftime but would control the tempo in the second half. After stretching the lead, the Cougars managed a comeback that brought the game back to within four at 59-55 with just three minutes to play. Five quick points from Peller and a dish to Kasper for two distanced the two teams at 66-55 with a minute remaining.
In the victory, the Trojans shot 51.9 percent from the floor making it the fourth straight game that Taylor has shot better than 45 percent. The Trojans manhandled the Cougars on the glass out-rebounding Saint Francis 40-26.
The Trojans are now 18-7 (10-3) and will host Marian this Saturday at 3:00 pm in Odle Arena.
