The Taylor women's basketball team ended a five-game losing streak earlier in the week against Spring Arbor and followed it up with a dominating victory against Goshen on Saturday. The Trojans comfortably handled the Maple Leafs 79-52 while seeing all 14 players get playing time.
Senior Erika Redweik reached 1,000 points and joined seniors Erin Guarneri and Tess Rudolph in the 1,000 point club. Redweik led all scores with 23 as she became the 20th women's basketball player to join the 1,000 point club.
Guarneri reached the 1,000 point club in this week's previous game against Spring Arbor and was honored before the game. She contributed with 12 points and seven rebounds as well.
The Taylor defense was the key to victory in Saturday's contest as the Trojans caused 25 Goshen turnovers and scored 34 points off those turnovers.
The Trojans shot a consistent 46.4 percent from the floor while holding Goshen to 33.3 percent and outscoring the Maple Leafs in the paint 52-24.
Junior Kelsey Bryant added a team-high four assists and four steals to go along with eight points.
Taylor begins a two-game road trip next week as they will travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Tuesday and No. 15 Bethel on Saturday.
