A dedication service will be held Friday afternoon to commemorate the life of Ruth Ann Breuninger, in the Rauch Family Plaza in front of Breuninger Hall.

“This building was built with a lot of intentionality,” said Debby Cheruiyot Bii, Breuninger and Gerig Hall Director. “It isn’t just a new dorm. A lot of people were invested in the making and collaboration of this building. I think it is what Dr. Ruth Ann Breuninger would have hoped for.”

Members of the board and family members of Breuninger will be speaking. Students and faculty are invited to come.

breupanGiving the tribute is Breuninger’s student and life-long friend Faye Chechowich, dean of faculty development and professor of Christian educational ministries.

“She was a bigger-than-life kind of person who was a gifted ministry practitioner,” Chechowich said. “She led large church bodies and initiated the Taylor Lighthouse program, which more than 2,000 people have participated in. She was amazing at investing in people.”

Before and after the service, Breuninger Hall will have an open house hour, along with a reception in the Legacy ’64 Commons in Euler.

“This event puts significance to what Ruth Ann did at Taylor,” Cheruiyot Bii said. “I hope it sparks a desire in students to live like she did, giving a lifestyle of service.”

The dedication will take place Friday at 3:30 p.m.
